Amenities
So many amenities, on-site and on-island. What's not to be happy about?
Foremost of our amenities are our three swimming pools.
The main pool is front and center, overlooking the waterfront, on the many plaza area. It is accompanied by chaise lounges for sun-bathing or soaking up the fresh Bahama breezes that come in off the bay. A cool drink may be ordered from the adjacent Sabor Restaurant and Bar to add to your relaxation. In the same area is our spa tub, with jets of warm water to sooth your overworked bones.
While we are here, let's expand on another important amenity: Sabor. This charming outdoor dining area features a convivial bar serving signature cocktails, in addition to standard wine and beer offerings. The restaurant includes tables graciously set for dining at lunch, supper or dinner. Tropical foliage accents the service area, and the views include yachts moored at the marina.
Speaking of boats, the launch that leaves from the dock in the same area motors several times a day between Pelican Bay and the gorgeous Taino Beach. Both the launch ride and the sugary-sand beach experience are great fun.
Two other pools enhance the amenities list. Neptunes pool overlooks scenic Bell Channel Bay and includes an inviting places to sit and watch the water when not in it. The Quiet Pool is our most secluded. While not completely private, it is, as the name suggests, quieter, with fewer swimmers and less incidental traffic.
Perhaps the most impressive amenity is our new Canal House. If you attend a meeting here you probably will see a lot of Canal House. It was designed a world-class meeting venue. On top of that, so to speak, the Captain's Galley on the top floor of Canal House serves breakfast every morning. For stunning views, the Bahamian double doors open to a balcony that surrounds the building and looks out across land and sea.
More amenities exist beyond the Pelican Bay premises. There's duty-free and folk art shopping at Port Lucayan Market. Several restaurants offer varying ethnic cuisines. There is nightly live entertainment, the Dolphin Experience, scuba diving, snorkeling and deep-sea fishing. Immediately across the street are two miles of Grand Bahama's white sand beach, a full service spa, four "Grand Slam" surface tennis courts and a casino.
Three 18-hole championship golf courses and The Jim McLean School of Golf are nearby. Sailing can be arranged. With a Bahamas Cruising Permit, you can sail or motor to hundreds of uninhabited islands and cays. Kayaking can take you by water to places few others get to see. Horseback riding is available.
The 40-acre Lucayan National Park is famous for its limestone caves you can easily explore on foot, and even dive when arranged through our good neighbor, UNEXSO. The caves comprise one of the longest underwater cave systems in the world.
You will never want for something to make you happy.
